How I stopped myself getting $100k clients
This one is for all the people guilty of a bit of self-sabotage.
You say you want high paying, easy-to-work-with clients.
Bigger contracts.
More profit.
But here’s the trap.
Most of us spend our energy selling smaller, safer offers while quietly hoping the right clients will appear.
That is exactly what I caught myself doing.
And if you follow my train of thought you may see the same in yourself.
This is about Godzilla clients. The high paying, high profit, easy-to-work-with kind.
The Impossible Client Story
Imagine this. A client asks for a quote.
You quote $100k.
You go back and forth on scope. They ask about payment terms and when you can start.
You say payment upfront and you can start tomorrow.
They wire the money. You begin.
Sounds impossible. Sounds like an internet guru story.
I thought so too.
And yet, it happened to me. Twice.
Godzilla Clients
Both of those clients have been an absolute pleasure. They went from clients to close partners.
In both cases, $100k was tiny to them. To me, it was huge. To a $500m business, it is pocket change. Some companies spend more than that on coffee.
One client went from $7k to $110k in 6 months. Another went from $300 to $150k in 4 months.
I want more clients like this. And I bet you do too.
Godzilla clients are better to work with and more profitable. I want more of them.
So what’s stopping me?
The $3k Blunder
Here is where I hit the wall.
My most visible offer is $3k.
My team is focused on selling the $3k offer.
I put my energy into the $3k offer.
Yet I keep saying I want 15 more $100k clients.
That makes no sense.
Yes, a Godzilla client may start with $3k and grow. But that is chance, not strategy.
And the truth is, I do not even have a $100k offer. Every $100k client I have won has been custom.
So how can I say I want $100k clients when I have no clear offer, no marketing and no focus to get them?
Cognitive Dissonance
This is the conflict.
You want one thing. You believe something else. Your belief wins.
My belief has been sabotaging me.
“You won’t sell it”
“Nobody will buy it”
“What if you don’t deliver?”
For 18 months I have said I want 15 clients paying $100k each. For 18 months I have done nothing consistent to achieve it.
No offer. No marketing. No plan.
Nothing.
My inner beliefs have overridden my goals and my common sense.
I realised I cannot wait until my mindset is fixed. I cannot wait until I feel ready.
I can control my actions.
This weekend I am building my $100k offer. Then I will send it to 50 companies every week.
Even if the offer is not perfect.
Even if I get rejected.
Even if it feels uncomfortable.
Because luck follows action.
After 100 pitches it will be sharper.
After 300 it will be solid.
After 500 it will be strong.
Before 1000 I will have closed something.
I’ll get better and closer to the goal by trying than I will waiting.
Why share this?
I am sharing this because I know you face the same conflict.
You say you want bigger clients, better contracts, more profit. But are your actions aligned with that goal? Or are you stuck selling smaller offers and waiting for luck?
If you want Godzilla clients you need a Godzilla offer.
Pick your number.
Is it $10k, $50k, $100k?
Build an offer at that level.
Do not wait for it to be perfect.
Send it to someone this week. Start conversations. Get feedback. Improve as you go.
One step. One pitch. One action.
Because waiting only strengthens the belief that it cannot happen.
Acting creates proof that it can.
